Janice J. Emery, MD, F.A.C.O.G.

Attended the University of Iowa, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and received a B.S. degree with Highest Distinction in 1970.

As a licensed Medical Technologist, she worked a year before entering the University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City, IA where she received her MD degree in 1975. She completed a four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY in 1979. Dr. Emery is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

She and her husband have two children.

Shannon J. Cothran, MD, F.A.C.O.G.

Attended University of Virginia 1994-1998: Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a Biological Specialty.

Jefferson Medical College 2000-2004 Doctor of Medicine Thomas Jefferson University Hospital 2004-2008 Post Grad Training: Residency Program in Obstetrics & Gynecology

Currently licensed in the state of Virginia.

Dr. Shannon Cothran joined our practice August 4, 2008 and is now accepting new patients for Gynecology and Obstetrics.

She and her husband have one son.

Theresa Rispoli, B.S.N., C.N.M.

Received her bachelor's degree in Nursing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1978. She received her midwifery/nurse practitioner certificates from Northern Glasgow College of Nursing and Midwifery in Scotland,Great Britain in 1981 and from Booth Maternity Hospital in Philadelphia in 1982.

Risa's primary interest is in patient care in a family-oriented environment. She believes that the patient should be involved in all phases of her care and that the patient, as well as her family, should have the most fulfilling experience with her pregnancy as is possible.

Risa has worked as a certified-nurse midwife with high-risk mothers and babies, and has performed over 4,500 deliveries. She has experience working in a medical corporation and in private practice. Risa also performs routine OB and GYN care and diagnostic procedures, and has worked as a nurse practitioner within the area of infertility.
